Spelling bee winner

Patrick Weldon, a fifth-grade student at St. Thomas More Catholic School in Bethel Park, was the winner of the 2018 Pittsburgh Diocesan Spelling Bee held at St. Louise de Marillac School on May 16. Patrick outlasted school winners from 40 other Catholic elementary schools in the area. He qualified for the Bee by winning his school spelling bee in March. This was his second year representing STM in the Diocesan Bee. He was coached by STM Spanish teacher and Spelling Bee coordinator Pat Healy.
