William and Grace Gullborg

A longtime Peters Township business owner and the McMurray Rotary Club’s longest-serving member has died at age 92.

William H. Gullborg, who lived in Peters, passed away Nov. 27 in hospice care in Canonsburg Hospital.

He was born July 20, 1928, in Renovo, Clinton County, a son of the late Harry and Nellie Gullborg. On June 7, 1950, he married his wife of 68 years, Grace, five days after having graduated from Syracuse University.

Gullborg owned and operated Gullborg Insurance Inc. for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Million Dollar Roundtable and received the Founders Award for most of those years.

A former president of McMurray Rotary Club, which he joined in 1968, Gullborg was a member of Rotary International for more than 60 years, maintaining exceptionally strong attendance throughout. He enjoyed photography and often would show slides at club meetings of places throughout the world to which he and Grace traveled.

They lived along Canonsburg Lake and were strong supporters of efforts to maintain and revitalize the body of water.

Gullborg also served in Peters Township Chamber of Commerce leadership and was a lifetime member and on various boards of Mt. Lebanon United Methodist Church and Trinity United Methodist Church in Peters Township.

Surviving are his children, Nancy Gullborg of Upper St. Clair; Linda S. (Duane) Kish of Manchester, Vt.; William D. (Sandra) Gullborg of Washington; David D. (Janet) Gullborg of Peters Township. He was the grandfather of nine and great-grandfather of seven.

Preceding Mr. Gullborg in death were his wife and a daughter, Gail Lynn Gullborg.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held on a date to be determined in 2021, near the anniversary of his death.
