State Rep. Natalie Mihalek, R-Upper St. Clair, announced she will be hosting two virtual outreach events in the coming weeks.

The first is a self-defense class via Facebook live from 6 to 7 p.m. April 30, taught by a certified instructor from C.S. Kim Karate studio. The event originally was scheduled for early May, but was canceled because of the COVID-19 crisis.

“During this time, we all have to get a little creative. I thought it would be fun to still host this event but do it a little differently,” Mihalek said. “It will be fun and informative for the whole family”

Mihalek also will host a telephone town hall meeting at 6:15 p.m. May 7, joined by two guests: Dr. Krista Boyer, a licensed psychologist who provides individual, group and family therapy to individuals across the lifespan in the Greater Pittsburgh Area, and Dr. Tim Campbell, a Bethel Park physician who routinely responds to national disasters as part of his role as a responder with a federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team.

“This telephone town hall meeting will be a great opportunity to discuss mental health and how to best cope with anxiety and stress during this crisis,” said Mihalek. “I invite residents to call in and listen or ask a question to our medical professionals.”

Residents of the 40th Legislative District should expect a telephone call shortly before 6:15 p.m. on the day of the call inviting them to participate. Those interested also can call in at 1-877-229-8493 and use ID code 119479. Web audio streaming is available at video.teleforumonline.com/video/streaming.php?client=19479.
