Three area high school seniors are the recipients of the Leadership In-Action Scholarships presented by District Judge Ron Arnoni.

Phoebe Chen of Upper St. Clair was presented her award during a recent ceremony held at the high school.

A senior, Chen has a 4.0 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society. She also is a section leader for the high school wind ensemble, playing flute an piccolo.

Chen is also involved with the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra and is a peer tutor at the high school. She led summer programs for children at the community library.

Victoria Hoffman and David Kessler represent Bethel Park High School. The seniors will receive their distinctions at 7 p.m. June 1 at the high school awards ceremony.

Hoffman is the president of the Bethel Park Student Government Association, a 4.0 student and a member of the National Honor Society. She also works at the Flora Park Garden in Bethel Park. Hoffman has been a Girl Scout since 2009 and belongs to a program that mentors and prepares eighth-grade girls for high school.

A leader on a championship baseball team, Kessler serves as a leader on the Principal Advisory Council of Students. He is a member of the National Honor Society and Business Leaders in America.

In 2021, Arnoni established the scholarships for Bethel Park and Upper St. Clair seniors. These awards are given to students who display exceptional leadership skills in school and in our communities.

Arnoni’s objective in founding Leadership Development in 2019 was to be a proactive voice to educate students and families about the challenges regarding substance abuse and social media while teaching students valuable leadership skills.
