A South Fayette native is among finalists for Teacher Appreciation Awards.

The competition, sponsored by The Education Partnership, is a celebration of educational excellence in Southwestern Pennsylvania.

Exceptional teachers, administrators, and school staff have been nominated from 157 diverse partner schools throughout eight counties. Award categories include outstanding elementary, middle, and high school teachers and a rookie teacher, outstanding non-instructional staff, and principal of the year.

Winners will be recognized at an in-person award ceremony June 9 at the Southpointe Golf Club in Canonsburg

South Fayette native Niel Loebig is among the finalists for Middle School Teacher of The Year. The former Chartiers Valley football coach is a teacher at Pittsburgh Morrow.

Among nominees for Outstanding Non-Instructional Staff is Maria Vondas, paraprofessional at South Hills Middle School.
