Upper St. Clair High School rising sophomore Mahir Parmar placed fifth at the Future Business Leaders of America National Leadership Conference, held virtually from June 29 through July 2. Mahir competed in the Introduction to Business category.

“At the national level there were approximately 200 competitors in this event so this is quite an achievement for Mahir,” Patrick Manion, social studies teacher and FBLA sponsor, said.

Mahir qualified to compete at the FBLA National Leadership Conference by placing first at Pennsylvania’s state competition. Other Upper St. Clair High School students who qualified for nationals included rising seniors Vidhur Senthil, Rushikesh Kulkarni, Aubrey Lang and Nivedha Suresh.

With more than 230,000 members, FBLA helps students prepare for careers in business. Members have the opportunity to demonstrate their business expertise through academic competitions, leadership development, and educational programs.

Regional, state and national competitions include more than 60 academic events that cover technology, public speaking, business, finance, management and more.
