Gartley earns PAC honor
Blaine Gartley of Mt. Lebanon was named Rookie Of The Week in the Presidents’ Athletic Conference.
A freshman guard, he helped the Chatham University men’s basketball team to a 2-0 mark. In two starts, he averaged 3.5 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three steals.
In an 85-80 win at Washington & Jefferson, Gartley put up five points, nine rebounds, three assists and two steals. Against St. Vincent, he finished with two points, seven boards, five assists and four steals.
In 11 starts this season, Gartley is averaging 5.1 points, five rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2.2 steals per game.
Before joining the Cougars, Gartley enjoyed a stellar scholastic career at Mt. Lebanon.
From the point-guard position, he dished up 5.5 assists per game his senior year. He also contributed 13.8 points and 2.5 steals an outing.
A three-year starter, he finished No. 4 among the Blue Devils’ all-time assist leaders with 280. He scored 790 points, picked up 163 steals and drained 114, 3-point field goals in his scholastic tenure.
Gartley was named a two-time all start by The Almanac and an all-section performer in high school.
