Brett Kroboth of Peters Township and Logan St. John Kletter from Mt. Lebanon took runner-up honors at the Marty Uher Invitational held on the 5,000-meter course at California University of Pennsylvania.
A junior, Kroboth clocked a 16:44.40, 21 seconds off the winning pace set by Butler’s CJ Singleton.
A sophomore, St. John Kletter posted a 19:17.90 time, seven seconds behind the winning pace set by Pine-Richland’s Meredith Price.
South Fayette’s Jake Borgesi finished in 6th place, while Roman Galioto followed in 11th and Alaa-Eddine Guitar placed 19th. The Lions were among the other area male runners finishing in the top 20 in the Steel AAA Division.
Doron Wudkwych from Canon-McMillan finished in 13th place, Upper St. Clair’s Sawyer Weinmann finished in 15th and Robert Shontz placed 17th, just ahead of Chartiers Valley’s Kaden Crump, who finished in 18th place.
Among the top 10 female finishers in the Steel Division were Bethel Park’s Jenna Lang, who placed fourth, USC’s Jaclyn Martinelli, who finished in fifth, PT’s Sydney Shock, who took seventh, and SF’s Lauren Iagnemma, who came in eighth place.
SF’s Lily Colombo finished in 12th place, as USC’s Lydia Rhodes followed in 15th and Meredith Rhodes took 19th, while Lebo’s Grace Goslin and Emma McGreevy, finished in 15 and 17th places, repectively.
The Panthers girls team took runner-up honors while the USC boys finished fourth in the team standings.
Jillian Fishell — who finished in 21st place and Mia Skeel, who followed in 29th — contributed to the USC girls team score while Cole Jooste, Evan Sarkett, and Carter Gerlach added to the boys team’s showing.
