Mt. Lebanon golfer finishes in seventh place at state championships

Lindsay Powanda of Mt. Lebanon finished tied for seventh place during the PIAA Class AAA girls golf championships played Oct. 20 at Heritage Hills Golf Resort in York. The WPIAL champion carded a 77.

Caroline McConnell from South Fayette, Ella McRoberts from Peters Township and Pennsbury’s Jade Gu all shot 78s to finish in a ninth-place tie.

Victoria Kim of West Chester East won the title after a one-hole playoff against Michelle Cox from Emmaus. Both shot even par 72 over 18 holes.

Calen Sanderson from Holy Ghost Prep shot a 4-under-par 68 to win the Class AAA boys title by one stroke over Chuck Tragesser from Franklin Regional.

Upper St. Clair’s Scott Jordan fired a 2-over-par 73 to finish tied with six others, including Rocco Salvitti from Canonsburg, for eighth place.

Carter Pitcairn, a Central Catholic senior and USC resident, carded an 82 while Jordan’s teammate, Jack Urban finished with an 87 to round out the scores by other local competitors.
