Peters Township kicked off the 2019 golf season with the boys varsity finishing in first and second place in the Tri-County Athletic Director’s Association Championship played at Chippewa Golf Course in Hickory.
The outing, featuring teams from Washington, Greene and Fayette counties saw the Indians Red team shoot a low-score of 387. The PT White team secured second with a 401 total.
South Fayette and Canon-McMillan followed in third and fourth place with scores of 406 and 419, respectively.
Ellian Ascencio earned medalist honors. The junior carded 73 on the Par 70 course to edge Jack Hritsko from Chartiers-Houston by one stroke. SF’s Luke Lestini took third with a 75.
Four additional PT players rounded out the Top 10. Will Burkhardt and Nick Luniewski both fired 77s, but due to scorecard playoff C-M’s Colin McKinney earned the fifth-place spot.
PT’s Mason Takacs placed ninth while SF’s James Cavrak took the 10th spot. Both shot 78.
In addition to Ascencio, Takacs and Luniewski, Christian Schreiber (78) and Logan Shaw (81) scored for the PT Red squad. Andrew Poon also played on the Red unit.
Burkhardt led PT White. Other members of the team include: Robert Gavlik, Nick Wentzel, Kyle McClintock, Seth Bockman and Dustin Bleiweis.
Other performers for SF include: Trent D’Alesandro, Jaden Mizenko, Alec Goldstrom and Colby Geary.
Other performers for the Big Macs include: Max Lockerbie, Jude O’Bryan, Ryan Kohlmeyet, Jamie Rush and Ethan Weismantle.
In the Class AA division, Waynesburg won the team title with a 438 score.
MaCottie Denjan led the Raiders.
