The WPIAL has opted to follow the hybrid start to all its fall seasons, which the PIAA offered to school districts earlier this week.

In its July 29 news release, the PIAA presented an alternative schedule which allows one sport to start and others at a later date.

The WPIAL opted Friday to delay the start of the football season until Sept. 10. The regular season will be reduced to seven games.

Heat acclimatization for football will begin Aug. 10. The first scrimmage is Sept. 3.

Golf and girls tennis will start competition Aug. 24. All other fall sports begin Sept. 14.
